William Chomley, Founder & CEO Imagr, gives Omni Talk’s Chris Walton and Anne Mezzenga a live store tour of his company’s new checkout-free installation in Osaka, Japan.
As you will see in the video, the Oasis store in Nakanoshima, Osaka is one of, if not the largest vision-only, autonomous checkout deployments in the world. At 9,000 square feet, the store is something to behold.
Shoppers pair their phone with a shopping cart, do their shopping and leave without scanning any barcodes. Imagr’s advanced image recognition technology knows every single item in the store and recognizes when it’s put in a cart. Customers can then track their items as they shop via the Imagr app and skip the checkout line altogether.
The solution is simple, elegant, and easy for retailers to deploy, and the concept, in Omni Talk’s opinion, is already a strong front runner for retail innovation of the year.
Be careful out there.
