1. DoorDash Buys Grubhub Campus Dining in $125M Wonder Deal
DoorDash will acquire Grubhub Campus Dining from Wonder as part of a $125M investment in Wonder’s Series D round. The platform, live at 450+ colleges, lets students order and pay with dining dollars. The deal is expected to close in H1 2027, with DoorDash planning to expand the tech to stadiums, hotels and similar venues. (Read More)
2. Meta Lab Adds Six AI Glasses Stores, Nearly Doubling Footprint
Meta Lab is opening six new stores this fall, starting with Houston, plus Atlanta, San Diego, Chicago, Scottsdale and NYC’s Moynihan Station, nearly doubling its eight-store footprint. Its AI glasses retail push also includes 50 Best Buy shop-in-shops by the end of 2026, even as privacy concerns around the devices persist. (Read More)
3. Target Taps Ex-Hilton CMO Mark Weinstein as Marketing Chief
Target named former Hilton CMO Mark Weinstein its chief marketing and guest experience officer, reporting to CEO Michael Fiddelke. He will shape how consumers connect with Target across channels and oversee its Roundel retail media network and Target+ marketplace. Target had been without a dedicated CMO since early 2025. 4. Amazon Sets Prime Big Deal Days for Oct. 6-7, Early Deals Live
Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days returns October 6-7, offering Prime members in 22 countries millions of deals, with over one million items at their lowest prices of the year so far. The event adds daily Today’s Big Deals drops, early savings on Amazon’s own devices, and Alexa for Shopping tools for deal alerts and auto-buy. (Read More)
5. Walmart+ Adds CITGO, Expands Gas Savings to 17,000+ Stations
Walmart+ has added CITGO to its Gas Savings benefit, growing participating stations about 30% from 13,000 to over 17,000 nationwide, where members save 10 cents per gallon. The biggest access gains come in the Southeast, Midwest and Northeast, and the $98 annual membership price stays the same despite added member value. (Read More)
