Today’s Top Talk

  1. Over the last few months, Amazon has removed several barriers that previously made it difficult for customers to purchase a single sub-$5 item on its own. The result is a flood of low-priced items — a $2 roll of dental floss or a 75-cent makeup brush — made available to Prime customers with free one-day shipping.
  2. Authentic Brands, the owner of about 50 brands including Nine West and Aéropostale, is preparing a nearly $270 million bid for Barneys with plans to license the brand to Saks Fifth Avenue.
  3. Kohl’s stores are getting a bit of a refresh and are being infused with new brands. Kohl’s hopes that trying new spaces in stores where brands rotate and entire outfits are put together as well as investing more in its own brands will help them excel ahead of the upcoming holiday season.
