Dick’s Sporting Goods is offering hundreds of in-store trade-in events during the first half of 2023.
The sporting goods giant will hold a series of 200 trade-in events at select stores in 19 states through the first half of 2023. The initiative builds on Dick’s strategic investment in November 2022 in SidelineSwap, an online platform for buying and selling new and used sporting goods. The companies initially launched their partnership in August 2022, and co-hosted 60 trade-in events last year.
At the trade-in events, customers can exchange their used sports gear and receive Dick’s gift cards to use toward their next purchase. Customers also have the option to donate all or a portion of their trade-in value to select local sports organizations. Items that do not qualify for trade-in can be donated or recycled. According to the retailer, customers who attended 2022 trade-in events received $88, on average, for their used gear.
