In the latest Omni Talk Women’s Retail Collective Podcast Anne Mezzenga sits down with Kroger Director, Principal Research Engineer, Victoria Uti, PhD to hear her career story that begins in Nigeria as a young, self-taught computer programmer and entrepreneur, to her current role leading the development of AI technology for the largest grocer in the US.
Victoria studied computer science at college in North Carolina and before using AI to improve grocery picking and packing, Victoria developed one of the first live-streaming platforms that allowed people in the US to stream, in real-time, TV shows and movies from her native Nigeria on their mobile devices.
Once Kroger came into the picture, she passed her successful streaming platform on to her siblings to head up research in Kroger’s technology lab and is now responsible for educating executives on the power that AI and technology can have on improving the many facets of Kroger’s business.
You’ll want to make sure to stay until the end to hear Victoria’s advice for women and men seeking retail technology careers and of course her all-time concert lineup.
She’s quite the jam band fan, and so are we!
