The Kroger Co. is officially a participant in the ghost kitchen space.
As initially announced in August 2021, the country’s largest grocery retailer is partnering with ghost kitchen startup Kitchen United to provide customers freshly prepared restaurant food for takeout or delivery in select Kroger banner locations.
Kroger is opening its first ghost kitchen center at a Ralphs store in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. Customers can build freshly prepared, on-demand restaurant meals from any or all of the restaurants participating in the initiative, including Fresh Brothers, Bushi by Jinya, Sajj Mediterranean, and Doghaus. The Los Angeles location is the first rollout of the Kroger-Kitchen United collaboration. Additional locations in Texas are anticipated to open later in the month.
